5S' performances on at the Stage 3 Parent Assembly today were collaboratively created to share learning from our Reggio Emilia class investigations in History and Science. In History, 5S has been learning about inland Australia and how it has been navigated by its Peoples, the local Indigenous Nations, and Europeans. We imagined what could have happened if the European explorers' timelines overlapped in search of missing explorer Ludwig Leichhardt and performed this as a highly creative play.
5S' second item was a dance that brought the ocean's Midnight Zone to life! This term, students have followed an interest in Science about how marine life create bioluminescence. The dance told the story of four little fish wandering down into the Midnight Zone, discovering bioluminescent creatures who were after a tasty snack! The experience of practising and performing together created a closer bond and trust amongst the class, as for both items, students enthusiastically worked together sharing ideas, designing their costumes and set, and learning their roles.
