Term 4 2022
5S students were thrilled to spend time with artist and College parent Mrs Renelle Harrison (Nellie Rose Australian Art) to hear about her artistic journey and process of making abstract art.
Mrs Harrison shared a favourite picture book, Niko draws a feeling by Bob Rackza, with the powerful message that abstract art can express a feeling or thought and can be appreciated by viewers for different reasons.
Having studied some abstract artists this term, students were excited to create original abstract art with guidance from Mrs Harrison. Inspired by a photograph of creation, students experimented with a combination of paint, watercolour, crayon, pastel and paper to capture and express a feeling on paper.
Mrs Harrison encouraged students to celebrate the different ways that God has made them creative, such as through music, movement, writing, maths and art.
