Autumn Vacation Care

June 2022

School holidays are just around the corner and with a three week break from classroom studies families might be seeking some support. The College Vacation Care Program for 3 – 16 year olds is out with bookings due by this Wednesday to secure a spot. Last holidays children had a wonderful time exploring all things Easter, Minecraft (children created Minecraft figures from cardboard and designed their own characters) and playing lava monster, making slime and challenging others to handball tournaments.

A Report from the OOSH Educators

In the first week of the holidays we explored the Easter story in our morning devotionals before diving into a range of different easter themed activities. Some of the activities the children really engaged in were the Easter egg hunt around Primary School, making chocolate freckles, and fun Easter craft – decorating eggs, bunny cups and easter suncatchers were some of the favourites.

In week two of the holidays, we had our immersive Minecraft week – we had a huge array of cardboard boxes that children were able to use to create a real world Minecraft experience in our second OOSH room. Some of the children made themselves into Minecraft figures, making helmets and body armour whilst others designed their own wonderful creations, children had access to paint and other crafting supplies to help unleash their creativity and bring their Minecraft world to life.

Because our program is led by the interests of the children attending, we also had a lovely time as a group playing Mario Kart, making slime and chalk versions of ourselves, having handball tournaments, playing group games in the MPC, visiting the playground to play lava monster as well as other imaginative games and of course the computer rooms for interactive Minecraft fun over the two weeks.

This Winter holiday break craft, physical activities and fun will all be centred around the circus, superheros and Disney characters. Check out the program for more details.

And a massive thank you to the OOSH team for their creativity and enthusiasm!!
