In Week 8, 4 secondary teams of represented Far West at the CSSA State Basketball Competition. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students from Years 7-12 to showcase their talents and work as a team. All 4 teams taken won their respective pools, competing in their Semi-Final competitions following 3 high-intensity games.
The Opens Girls and U15 Girls both lost their Semi-Final games with narrow margins, the Opens Girls team ending the day with no subs. The U15 Boys team played off for third and fourth, securing a comfortable win placing them third overall. The Open Boys went through undefeated in their pool, playing their Semi-Final game again winning. The Opens Boy’s Grand Final was a great game in which the boys displayed teamwork and determination. In the end the Open Boys came out with a comfortable win. Overall, it was a great trip, with all the teams placing in the top 3.
Congratulations to all involved. Most impressive was the attitude, generosity and care shown by students throughout the trip away. The College is so proud of the character of the students who represent us.
Thank you to Mr Cunningham and Mr Sewell for coaching the teams. A special thank you to Lisa Nelson, Bradley Ghavalas (Class of 2021) and Leah Hector (Class of 2019) who travelled away with the teams to assist.
