Doing the College Proud on the Rugby Field

14 June 2022

Three teams from Year 7 - 12 took to the Conolly Field today, participating in the Rugby 7s Gala Day. Mr Trevor Gyles, Teacher Coach, could not have been more proud of the boys.

"These teams played their heart out today, played with strength and inclusivity and were a credit to the College," enthused Mr Gyles at the conclusion of the day.

After some exciting pool games the Year 7/8 team and the Year 11/12 teams took part in the semi finals where Year 7/8 played Temora and Year 11/12 played Tumut. The boys put in excellent efforts but weren't able to find their way through to the Finals.

Outstanding play by a number of boys contributed to some excellent results, but as a number of other school's coaches noted, "The College should be proud of how far the senior boys have come in their game of rugby, their ability to play the game." Thank you for your ongoing efforts over the last few years Mr Gyles!

Congratulations to the following students who were nominated for Best on Ground awards based on their day's play:

7/8 Team

Best on Ground Luke Anderson

Runner Up Oscar Nugent

9/10 Team

Best on Ground Jack Graham

Runner Up Ned Bergmeier

11/12 Team

Best on Ground Samson Lucas

Runner Up Harry Dean

Thank you to the team of parents who supported the teams so ably:

  • Mr Greg Nugent, Coach Year 7/8 boys.

  • Mr Brendan Owers Coach Year 11/12 boys.

They were an inspiration!
