We are excited that the College has received a grant from the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant Program and we have big plans in store!
We aim to provide a garden that will complement and give students a hands-on experience in learning about how Aboriginal People used plants for their health, food and materials. Students will be involved in researching safe edible plants and how Aboriginal People use these plants for their health, food and materials. They will help to prepare and plant, as well water and weed our garden. Once the garden is established, students will be able to harvest and make products with the produce.
The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include:
* that students will learn about choosing plants that are suitable to our environment,
* students will learn about the life cycle of these plants,
* students will experience how to use these plants as medicine, food or making reusable sustainable baskets,
* students will also learn about the sustainability practices of the Aboriginal People.
