It was SOOOO close! The mixed upper Primary netball team played in the finals against St Anne's Temora in an extremely exciting match to end today's Netball NSW Schools Cup Competition - Primary - carnival. For the majority of the College teams today was a netball Gala Day offering students the opportunity to play as a team, extending the skills Mrs Vanessa Vidler, Junior Sports Coordinator, has been working on in Junior School Sport. For the Year 5/6 team, who were part of the competitive draw and coached by Mrs Kim Heath, the day was a test of their skill and endurance. After competing in six games, the seventh came down to the wire . . .
With no subs all day the Year 5 & 6 students had played their hearts out. "I have never seen such a great game of netball", commented Mrs Vidler as the team battled against their opponents to earn a place in the Regional competition. But as the final whistle blew their first half advantage had been replaced by a one goal loss to the Temora team. The score tells the story: 7-6.
The team was an inspiration to the younger members of the College participating today. Almost 40 students took part in a fun, inclusive environment encouraging teamwork and participation. Thank you to all the parents who came and helped, cheered and generally supported the College teams. It really was a super day!
