Stage 3 enjoy National Simultaneous Storytime

Wednesday 25 May, 2022

Today Stage 3 students came together with over two million participants from Australia and around the world to read the same story together. The book, 'Family Tree', written by Josh Pyke and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh, is a heartfelt story about the seasons of life and celebrates family and community. Students identified that the book’s metaphor of a tree growing up reflects their own life stages.

Year 5 and 6 students considered the experience.

"After reading the story, we put succulents in water to grow, just as in the book we see a tree grow." – Halle, 5S

"The book was a metaphor as the seed in it is us and we grow up like a tree. As a seed we aren’t that strong, but when we grow up, like a tree, we get stronger." – Tresor, 5S

"I liked how the author and illustrator were both there reading the story to us, because they could tell us how they wrote and illustrated it." – Zara, 5S

"It was an inspiring story, seeing growth and change." – Cameron, 6W

"The family tree was a touching story about different stages of life." – Violet, 6W

"Being part of the simultaneous storytime was a good educational experience." – Evie, 6W

After such a great experience, we look forward to participating in next year's National Simultaneous Storytime!
