Last week our Open Girls participated in the Tracey Gunson Shield Competition, for Combined Wagga Netball. The first game was sensationally close. The College girls won the first three quarters against Wagga High before losing the lead in the final minutes of the last quarter. In the second game against Kooringal High, our girls battle valiantly with no substitutions. Hannah Buchtmann from Year 9 jumped in to fill the bigger shoes of her namesake from Year 12 when Hannah M. went down injured early in the game.
Although the girls were unable to chalk up a win, Jock Currie the patron of Combined Wagga came over to our girls and congratulated them on being the, ‘strongest team that the Christian College had ever entered.’ The girls were captained by Senna-Rose Ladule, who directed superbly from GD and GK. Claire Colvin was a stand-out at both ends of the court in GS and GK.
Congratulations to these girls for performing so well and representing the College at the highest local level. Thank you to Brendon Colvin for his expertise in coaching and Brenna Guilfoyle, Year 9, for umpiring.
