caring for our earth

Thursday, 3rd June 2021 In Middle School caring for the earth is a theme that runs across the stages. This term in Geography, 7M has been studying the factors that make an environment "liveable" and the differences in quality of life across the globe. To accompany this discussion, we have been studying ways to preserve and care for the Earth. Students were asked to design a poster about an environmental issue they felt passionate about. The students created posters with an engaging title, visual images, and statistics about their chosen environmental issue. Some of these issues included saving endangered animals, limiting pollution, or acting against climate change. To spread awareness of these issues, 7M embarked on a protest march around the College chanting "Save the Earth" in an effort to raise attention about the need to conserve our planet. Students were eager to have their voices heard and communicate the importance of conserving the world we live in. Miss Naomi Abascal, Year 7 Core Teacher Hearing from the students Spiders are one of the most important pest killers of the earth. Spider's favourite meals are flies, mosquitoes and moths. I made this poster to show and explain that spiders should never be killed by humans, when you see a spider in your house please carefully capture it with a bowl and slide paper under it. Release the spider outside and it will now get rid of pesky insects. You can easily just leave it in your house and ignore it. They mean no harm to humans unless you harm them." Rhani Today we made posters and walked around the basketball courts protesting. Our protest was based on the negative things in our environment including climate change, pollution, endangered species, etc. I did my poster on pollution, it said that over 100 million marine animals are dying each year from rubbish. Two of my friends made posters about endangered species: pandas and tigers. We walked around the basketball courts shouting our slogan. We walked past the office and back to our class led by Trent. We walked around another lap and Trent got Mrs Heath’s class to start shouting SAVE OUR PLANET! It was a fun lesson and I think most of our class would do it again. Jayde We had a protest about something we wanted to change in the environment. I chose to do a poster about saving the turtles. Did you know that 1,000 turtles die a year due to pollution? We walked around the basketball court showing off all our posters; Mrs Heath's class was even cheering us on. Bridie I chose 'Stop Pollution' as my subject because I think it is really important to stop polluting the earth and killing the earth. I also chose it to raise awareness to everyone, everywhere. It is really important to 'Stop Pollution' because killing the earth is also killing you. Stop Pollution! Arabella
