3 December 2021 On the first day of a hot summer, students from Stage 3 arrived at school in the morning, readying themselves for two days of intense fun. Spirits were high as, throughout the day, they spent time together sharing jokes and stories, playing games, and having the times of their lives, starting with some rounds of ping-pong to raise money in an effort to end slavery worldwide. “It’s been really good to bond as a group,” commented Allie, “the best part so far was sleeping over, but my best friend Sarah stole my bed!” After a night of sleep for some, and a night of whispers and hushed giggles for others, Stage 3 enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast provided by the Inspire church, before heading back out for some more games, including an obstacle course, a spider-web challenge, and a water-balloon fight, which was perfectly timed on such a hot day. When asked if they had any pieces of knowledge to take home from the activities, teamwork was a common theme. “I learnt how important it is to work as a team,” Hugh explained. Meanwhile, Jemima had some deep insight into the importance of cooperation: “I’ve learnt that everyone needs to work together, otherwise no one will get anything done.” By Noah Schmidtke, Year 10 student reporter
