CSSA State Soccer

June 2022 The Open Boys CSSA State Soccer Competition held in Sydney at the end of Term 2 was intense, offering players opportunities to shine against significant competition from designated soccer schools. Eventually bowing out in the semi-finals the boys were a credit to the College and the Far West Region. Central to their success has been the huge commitment of Michael and Karen Lucas over the last 12 years, coaching, supporting, encouraging and organising the boys, partnering with the College teachers, through many competitions. Thank you to Mrs Belinda Everingham for being the Teacher in Charge and leading the team through the 2022 CSSA Regional and State Competitions. The Sydney trip was a special time for the team which included highlights beyond the games. The boys enjoyed bonding sessions over dinner in the local trivia competition, vying with the local teams and winning some rounds! Enjoy reading Mrs Everingham's report of the State Soccer competition: The boys played three games in Pool A, the first game, Kye (Year 10) scoring in the last minutes to secure a 1-1 draw with Summerland Christian College. The second game against Mamre Anglican School, the boys played extremely well keeping Mamre to a 0-2 win. The last game in the pool saw the boys play against Cedars Christian College with goals from Year 12 students, Samson, Thomas and Shaun, to secure a 4-1 convincing win. In the semi-finals, the boys played against Inaburra School, playing hard through to the final whistle, unfortunately with a final score of 2-4. All the boys played extremely well and should be congratulated on their efforts, especially considering the intense competition against larger, designated soccer schools.
