Hands-on Projects engage Stage 5
Students in Year 9 will soon be taking home a dart board cabinet personalised with motifs which reflect the hobbies or character of the stud
Term 4, 2021 Students in Year 9 and 10 Industrial Technology will soon be taking home a dart board cabinet. The cabinets have been a project over two terms with students focused at different times with measuring, cutting and gluing wood; sanding, attaching hinges and finally applying an oil-finish as the finishing touch. "I have really enjoyed learning new things while making this dart board cabinet. It has been really fun to do." said Simphiwe, Year 9 student. Each cabinet has been personalised with motifs which reflect the hobbies or character of the individual student. Students used CAD software and the CNC Laser Cutter to emblase their designs into the timber panels. Can you guess which cabinet below belongs to whom? For some the structure of the cabinets have been modified. The addition of shelves has turned the dartboard cabinets into vanity cabinets and display cabinets among other uses. Families of Year 9 and 10 students, start rearranging the paintings at home - these cabinets have had a lot of love and care in the design and making and deserve pride of place.
