Olive Picking with Senior Ag Students

Term 4, 2021 Earlier this term Senior Agriculture students had the opportunity to visit a local organic olive grove, Parafield Organic Table Olives , owned and operated by Margie Carter. First planted in 1935 the grove includes varieties such as Kalamata, Koroneiki, Leccino, Manzanillo, and Pendulino. The visit was extremely valuable in growing the student's understanding of the production chain, grove management and sustainable grove practices - a fantastic example of paddock to plate. After being given the opportunity to taste a variety of olives students were gifted with an award winning jar of olives - a generous gesture after such an informative visit.
