Open girls league tag

On Friday, the College sent a team to the NRL Southwest Open Girls League Tag competition.

Open girls league tag

Term 1 2023 Fast legs and quick reactions were key to good play at today’s Open Secondary Girls League Tag Gala Day at Parramore Park. An enthusiastic group of Year 7 to 12 girls were led by Mr Jeff Ward through four games against teams from across the region. League tag was a new game for the majority of the team, with some students’ experience extending to rugby or touch. “It is a pretty different game to touch as getting the markers off is key and it can be really difficult,” said Year 7 student Violet. For Caitlin in Year 12, who had participated in last year's Gala Day, the joy of playing together and using team sport as a means of getting to know girls in other year groups was enough for her to sign up again. Mr Ward’s advice and mentorship resulted in some great play, with special mention to Ruby Douglas for her great kick offs; the girls finished the day on a high, convincingly winning their final game. Well done girls!
