Ping Pong a Thon strikes at the Heart
Middle School are in the midst of growing in their understanding of one of the world's biggest social justice problems - slavery.
Term 4, 2021 Middle School are in the midst of growing in their understanding of one of the world's biggest social justice problems - slavery. There are currently more slaves around the world than any other time in history - 40.3 million! The students are on a mission to make a difference and they need our help. Ella Alcorn, Year 6 student who is currently the lead fundraiser for the campaign, is invested in this issue after being confronted by the stories of people who have been impacted by slavery. "We heard stories of 12 year old girls who had been rescued out of slavery situations and this made me very upset. I am so happy that the Middle School are getting behind this cause and so thankful to the many people who have donated money to help make a change. It is my hope that as a community we can make a change for those that need it most." Middle School students have until Thursday 2 December to raise funds for this important work. Their term long fundraising campaign will culminate in a 12 hour Ping Pong a Thon. To prepare for this some classes have a ping pong table set up in their room for lunchtime practice and there are weekly duels across year groups.
