Term 2, 2022 Class 4F, as part of their study of exploration and discovery, have completed individual research projects about explorers from the Age of Exploration (from 1200s until the 1800s). Such is their depth of understanding on their chosen topic they are able to recount a summary of the life and exploits of their chosen explorer. S ee below some snippets from the class highlighting the great knowledge gained by the students. As an extension to this research project small groups of students are designing and constructing Caravel ships, light sailing ships designed by the Portuguese specifically for exploring the African coast. They are including their own touches to their designs, for example, heart shaped figureheads adorning the prow of the ship; planks on which unwanted guests would take a walk and cannons in preparation for enemy fire.
