Sydney Symphony Orchestra

21 June 2021 Some of our Senior students joined other young musicians from around Wagga for a special workshop with members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last Friday. The orchestra performed an amazing concert on Thursday evening, before spending time supporting local musicians in a combined orchestra on Friday. Students participated in sectionals, working with their instrument type to hone specific skills, before combining for a final performance of two works, Music from Gladiator by Hans Zimmer and Credits for an Un-made Movie by local musician, teacher and composer, Kara Williams. This was the third performance ever of this work, and students were conducted by the composer! Thank you to Tamara Spencer, Head of Brass and Woodwind at the Riverina Conservatorium of Music, who also conducted on the day and organised this excellent opportunity. "I enjoyed hearing pieces come together and the opportunity to work with the orchestra." Freya, Year 10 "I enjoyed hearing everyone sound so good together. It was nice to play with people who perform in an orchestra for a living." Emmaley, Year 10
