Year 12 ARt on Excursion
A visit to a local art exhibition offers senior students the opportunity to consider fresh new perspectives on their own creations.
25 March 2022 Year 12 art students had the opportunity to visit the Curious Rabbit Art Gallery and Café to not only view their peer's artwork in the 'What Women Experience' Wagga Women’s Health Centre Art Exhibition but also to converse with business owner Vickie Burkinshaw about her vision for her small business, the creative side of Wagga and even the student's own individual body of work. "Rabbits Café is the creative hub of Wagga. As a small business it celebrates local artistry - whether that is poetry, music or art - supports social causes and is a safe place of solace or connection." enthused Mrs Amanda Martinez, Art Teacher. "Students had the opportunity to sit back, think and talk through why they create art, it's importance and the possibilities art offers to start a conversation and instigate connections. Having the opportunity to see other student's work exhibited in a public space helps students to have a vision beyond creating their artwork merely for the classroom or as a response to a course requirement." "Vickie offered our senior students a fresh perspective on their individual body of artwork as she took time to talk to each student and offer insight from a curator's perspective."
