Yr 11 work studies tafe visit
Year 11 Work Studies students were given the opportunity to tour the Wagga TAFE campus and engage in a Q&A with TAFE teachers.
Midway through Term 2, Year 11 Work Studies students were given the opportunity to tour the Wagga TAFE campus and engage in a Q&A with TAFE teachers, Heads of Departments, and current TAFE NSW students. The students visited the Trades Training sections of Painting and Decorating, Construction, Shopfitting and Cabinetmaking, Plumbing, Fitting and Machining, and Electrotechnology. Graham Hewson, Head Teacher of Construction Training at TAFE NSW, said how “excited he was that young people can see the immense value of completing hands-on and industry leading training in a trade at TAFE NSW” and the value of students understanding the opportunities available to them to get “straight into the workforce while earning a decent wage while you study”. The students really enjoyed seeing how the training included the use of industry leading machines and technologies and were amazed at the quality of work that was being produced as part of trade training. "The experience of going to the Wagga Wagga TAFE was really good because we got to see what all the different trades were and what they involved. We talked to teachers from each trade and they explained how they got into the career and why they are good to go into." Sophie "It was interesting to see how the building was all set out considering I’d never seen it before. It was also really inspiring to see how passionate they all were when they spoke about their trade." Bianca
