In the lead-up to our College Open Night, 5C put their minds towards some poetry. This was in response to discovering and imagining the thoughts and emotions of First Fleet women and men and Indigenous Australians.
The class chose to use the ‘I am’ poem that enables the author to describe, express and reveal more of themselves through a series of prompts. The students wrote drafts, typed and published their finished works, before recording themselves reading their poems. Their parents could then listen to their child by scanning a QR code.
Students had a wonderful time working through each stage and were pleasantly surprised with their final recording at the end.
