finding the way

9th May 2023

Following a map under pressure is no easy task. The Year 6 students who participated in today’s Riverina Schools Orienteering Day joined students from Cootamundra, Walla Walla and Yanko to undertake a 1 km course through the bushland at the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens. After some sessions of orienteering at school, learning the basics of map reading with the sun as their guide and getting familiar with the SportIdent electronic timing system, students were ready for the challenge. Joining individual and team-based competitions the students enjoyed both the mental and physical challenge. A big congratulations to Skye Atkinson who placed second in the 10–11-year girls.
