rea subs & f1 in schools state competitions

Week 2 term 4, 2023

Our STEM teams achieved OUTSTANDING results at the Re-Engineering Australia SUBS and F1 in Schools State Competition last week; with the F1 team earning a place in the nationals!

Both Orca and Trident teams won numerous awards in the Development and Professional classes of the SUBS in Schools competition. Congratulations to the Year 7 team, Trident. In their first year of competition, they won the following categories: Best Team Marketing, Best Team Trade Display, Innovation Award and Best Graphic Design. What an amazing result!!

Team Orca won 5 categories in the Professional Class and was awarded 2nd place at States, missing out on first by just 10 (out of a maximum of 1000) points! What a narrow margin! A testament to their hard work they won: Best Team Portfolio, Best Trial, Best Managed Enterprise and Best Team Verbal Presentation.

The F1 in Schools Team Neo, won Best Engineered CAD, Best Engineered, Best Team Verbal Presentation, Best Manufactured Car and the Innovation Award, gaining 2nd place and entry to the REA Foundation F1 in Schools National Competition in Adelaide in 2024. A massive achievement for this STEM-focused team. In their second year in the competition, this Secondary team have improved their engineering skills out of sight. The competition requires the design, manufacture, branding and racing of a scale-model F1 car, in conjunction with community and industry partnership.

Credit to each team member for their perseverance through what is a challenging competition. Massive thanks to the teachers and parents who partnered with the students throughout the preparation and in this intense competition week. Well done and congratulations to all teams!!
