In Year 11 Work Studies, students attended one of Australia’s household names in Bunnings Warehouse, and met with Jason Triffit (Lifestyles Coordinator) for an informative and inspiring discussion around his 17-year-long career with Bunnings so far! Students heard about inclusive employment policies and the focus on developing a positive workplace culture to ensure teams work efficiently in a supportive and encouraging work environment in which people enjoy and feel valued. Students then participated in a “scavenger hunt style” challenge that Mr Forbes-Taber had created for them, in which they paired up to locate an extensive list of products and tools in store for a simulated planter box construction project. Students did remarkably well, although numerous times, they had to ask the helpful Bunnings staff for advice and directions. The results will be digested next week as students determine who came in “under budget” with their product selections, and who may have “blown their budget”.
